Two Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) football players have been arrested after allegedly tripping the university dorm smoke alarms and fastening several of the doors shut. A third individual, a former CCSU football player, was also arrested.

Campus police responded to the 3:15 a.m. fire and found burnt bags of popcorn in several neighboring dorm rooms. Two doors on the fifth floor of the dorm hall were tied shut with heavy fishing line, and several other doors on the fourth floor were also fastened.

According to one of the suspects, the prank was pulled to “just get a few laughs.”

The students were charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless burning, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.
