RANCO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — A rivalry between the Los Osos High School and Rancho Cucamonga High School football teams reached its climax Friday, following a melee involving hundreds of students, which resulted in the arrests of two people.
Tensions arose between the two schools when RCHS, which uses LOHS’ football stadium, when officials at RCHS charged Los Osos students $5 to park in their own parking lot. When RCHS won the game, the brawl began.
Up to 20 people were physically fighting, with roughly 300 students blocking security and police from breaking up the scuffle, CBS Los Angeles reports. Some claim police pepper-sprayed partakers directly in the face to disperse the crowd, while the Sheriff’s department maintains they sprayed over the mob.
Officials maintain that there was adequate security in place for the game.
