The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday released guidelines on how schools can reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.
The document asks K-12 districts to consider if reopening will be consistent with applicable state and local orders. The schools should also be ready to protect children and employees at higher risk for severe illness before they reopen. Additionally, campuses should be able to screen students and employees upon arrival for symptoms and a history of exposure to COVID-19.
The CDC further recommends that campuses have recommended health and safety actions in place as well as ongoing monitoring.
In addition to schools, the CDC issued guidelines for the reopening of child care centers, restaurants, bars and other workplaces.
