Campus Safety Conference Draws Media Attention

Numerous Los Angeles-area television, radio and print media covered the Campus Safety Conference last week at USC.

Drawing even more attention to the important issue of protecting the nation’s schools, colleges and universities, the sold-out Campus Safety Conference last week drew the attention of numerous local mainstream media outlets.

Among the media outlets attending the conference’s keynote speech from LAPD Chief Charlie Beck were representatives from TV stations KCAL, KCBS, KNBC, Telemundo, Univision and KABC; radio station KNX, and the Los Angeles Times and Daily News newspapers.

The event, which was produced by Campus Safety Magazine in conjunction with the University of Southern California (USC) at the Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Midtown, just across the street from the campus, was attended by more than 300 professionals involved in the protection and security of K-12 schools and institutions of higher education. The conference included a day-and-a-half of sessions covering K-12 and higher-ed safety issues, including Clery Act compliance, lockdown procedures, active shooter response and emergency notification systems.

The event also had dozens of sponsors, some of whom received local media coverage for their products.
