Campus Officer Struck By Student’s Speeding Car

HARTLAND, Mich. — A security officer at Hartland High School is still alive after being struck by a student’s car in the school parking lot.

Suzzane Hazzard, who has worked at the school for 10 years, was hit by a car that was traveling at an estimated 45 miles per hour, Click On Detroit reports. The 16-year-old driver was leaving campus when he dropped something on the floor of his vehicle. His foot hit the gas pedal when he reached down to pick up the item, according to Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte.

Investigators also found marijuana in the student’s car.
