A 31-year old teacher at a California High School was found hanging in her classroom by students on Monday morning.

Jillian Jacobson, who taught photography at El Dorado High School in Orange County, was found hanging from the ceiling after another teacher unlocked her classroom door for students, according to latimes.com.

Authorities say the teacher and students then lowered Jacobson to the floor, and paramedics later tried CPR before pronouncing her dead in the classroom. Placentia Police Lieutenant Eric Point says the preliminary investigation indicates a suicide.

Students were released form school early Monday and counselors will be available “as long as needed” according to school district officials.
