MENDOCINO, Calif. — The Medocino Coast District Hospital will soon purchase a $75,000 infant security bracelet system.
The system has a security bracelet for both the mother and the newborn. If the two are somehow separated farther than the programmed distance, an alarm will sound off, and the hospital will go in lockdown mode, The Mendocino Beacon reports.
Hospital officials said the system will eliminate the need to have a security guard in the maternity ward, which should save the medical facility roughly $15,000 a month.
