Bratton Will Lead UC Davis Pepper-Spraying Investigation

DAVIS, Calif. – Former Los Angeles Police Department Chief William Bratton will conduct an independent University of California (UC)-sponsored review of the UC, Davis mid-November pepper spraying incident.

UC President Mark Yudof made the announcement Nov. 22, reports the Los Angeles Times. He also appointed UC General Counsel Charles Robinson and UC Berkeley law school Dean Christopher Edley Jr. to examine police policies in handling student protests on all UC campuses.

UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi said that campus police defied her orders when they used pepper spray on protesters.
