BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Campus police at State University of New York College of Brockport found the deceased body of a female student in her dorm room on Saturday morning.

Freshman Alexandra Kogut, 18, was found in her McLean Hall dorm room around 2:45 a.m., with “extensive trauma to her upper body,” according to Democrat and Chronicle. A medical examiner confirmed Kogut died from blunt force trauma.

Police have charged Kogut’s boyfriend, 21-year-old Clayton Whittemore, with 2nd degree murder, reports WHEC.com. Investigators confirmed that Whittemore, a star hockey player at Utica College, visited Kogut at her campus on Sept. 28, and stated the incident took place between 1 and 2 a.m. on Sept. 29. Authorities located the suspect at a rest stop near the College of Brockport around 4 a.m.
