Bay Area Voters Approve $380M School Bond for Security
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif.—Voters in the West Contra Costa County School District approved a $380 million school bond initiative in attempts to improve school security and to rebuild schools.
Measure D was passed by 62 percent of voters, according to KGO TV. A large amount of the funds will go towards improving school security as a result of the Oct. 23 gang rape of a 15-year-old student at Richmond High School.
The district will team up with local law enforcement to link up the new security systems and install surveillance cameras at schools.
