TOWSON, Md. – Baltimore County leaders have proposed spending a little under $10 million in security equipment for schools.
Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetiz is asking the County Council to sign off on more than $2.5 million for security equipment this year, and to receive the rest over the next two years, reports WBALTV.com.
This would be in conjunction with Baltimore County’s One Card system, which features cards that are used by students and staff to get into buildings and keep track of attendance. The proposed upgrades would allow law enforcement direct access to school security cameras.
Baltimore County schools have already installed nearly $4 million in security equipment.
