Ball State Police Officer Arrested for Criminal Recklessness

Eric Reffitt has resigned from his position as a Ball State University police officer after police arrested him for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and public intoxication.

MUNCIE, Ind. – A Ball State University police officer has resigned from his position after he was arrested for participating in a brawl at a strip club.

On June 11, Eric Reffitt, 30, allegedly waved a knife at Joker’s Wild cocktail lounge, accidentally causing minor injuries to his friend with the weapon, The Star Press reports.

He then went to a Taco Bell and displayed his police ID and demanded entry into the restaurant.

Police said Reffitt’s blood-alcohol level was three-times the legal limit for motorists.

Reffitt, who joined Ball State’s police force in April 2008, resigned from his post the day following his arrest.

He has been charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and public intoxication.
