Attorney Files $100M Claim in Newtown Shooting

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – An attorney hired by the family of a six-year-old survivor of the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting filed and then withdrew a $100 million legal claim against the state of Connecticut on Wednesday.

Irving Pinsky claims the assault was preventable, reports CNN. Although Sandy Hook’s principal had recently implemented security upgrades, the attorney claims bullet-proof glass should have also been installed. The principal was killed in the attack, along with five other adults and 20 children, as she attempted to stop the gunman.

Pinsky told CNN he will probably re-file his claim and that his intentions were to prevent future attacks.
