Atlanta Public Schools will increase the number of police at high school football games following recent shootings.
The district announced the decision to add police after two people were shot just outside of a Grady High School football game September 4 following a fight between two groups of people, according to wsbtv.com.
The new officers will work both inside and outside the stadium and will patrol the perimeter of the schools to protect pedestrians.
In the September 4 shooting a male student was shot in the back and a female pedestrian was shot in the shin after driving her car into the crossfire of a gun fight.
Students say attending the games can still be “scary” and suggested including metal detectors at the stadium gates.
