ASU Web Services Shut Down After System Breach

PHOENIX — An encrypted file containing user names and passwords to a system used by Arizona State University students, faculty and staff was downloaded by an unknown individual.

Students received an alert about the possible breach on Jan. 18, KPHO reports. All online services were suspended until Jan. 19 as a precautionary measure.

The system is the primary login for ASU computing services and every person at the university is assigned a used ID.
