LOS ANGELES — Police arrested two young men Friday in the killings of two University of Southern California (USC) graduate students from China.
Javier Bolden, 19, and Bryan Barnes, 20, were arrested on suspicion of the April 11 murders of Ming Qu and Ying Wu in an apparent robbery attempt near campus, the Associated Press reports. Neither suspect has a long criminal history, but police believe them to have a gang affiliation.
One of the suspects took the cellphone of one of the victims, the Los Angeles Times reports. Police were able to track signals sent by the phone. They also identified a signal from a second cellphone in proximity to the victim’s cellphone. That phone was identified as belonging to the suspect.
