Inmate Attempts to Escape Nebraska Hospital

The 26-year-old man started a fight with a police officer during a bathroom break and then attempted to flee the hospital.

A man recently arrested on a felony warrant attempted to escape from a hospital in Nebraska. The attempt was made during a bathroom break and according to a report by KETV, the man in question is Dustin Loparco, 26, who previously made headlines when he barricaded himself inside his home in an attempt to evade arrest last week.

Security personnel at Nebraska Medical Center issued a “help an officer call” last Wednesday when Loparco got into a fight with the Omaha police officer standing guard during his bathroom break. After a brief struggle, Loparco was apprehended by Omaha police officers and hospital security staff. There is no word on why he was not handcuffed at the time of the incident.

Now, in addition to felony charges, Loparco will also face charges of escape and assault with body fluids since he spit on the officers during the struggle. Loparco is now being held at the Douglas County jail.
