LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — In a 31-4 vote on Monday, the Arkansas state Senate agreed to allow colleges and universities to decide whether to allow concealed weapons on campuses.
The bill, previously passed by the Arkansas House of Representatives in a 70-11 vote, now goes to Gov. Mike Beebe, who is expected to sign the legislation, Reuters reports. If approved, Arkansas will join 23 other states that allow colleges and universities to determine whether to allow or ban concealed weapons on campus.
Currently, many state universities said they would not allow concealed carry weapons on college grounds.
