SchoolDude, a provider of operations management solutions, announced that Houston County Schools in Alabama is now using its mobile safety platform CrisisManager.
The district, located in southeastern Alabama, serves roughly 6,400 K-12 students and has 14 locations. Using CrisisManager district administrators can now access step-by-step procedures to follow during emergencies including inclement weather, active shooter, bomb threat, student injury and other crisis situations.
“CrisisManager complements our existing safety resources, which working together ensures we have a safe teaching and learning environment at Houston County Schools,” says Kenny Fondren, a technology specialist for the district.
Houston County Schools’ CrisisManager mobile app is customizable and offers one-tap emergency calling, building schematics, emergency exits and lockdown locations relevant to the various schools in the district. Emergency plans, available with or without a Wi-Fi connection, are password-protected, and not available to the general public.
“The unfortunate reality is that we have come to expect emergencies in our schools and those incidents require immediate action,” said Nick Mirisis, a director of marketing at SchoolDude. “CrisisManager puts the most accurate emergency plans into the hands of Houston County Schools’ administrators via their smartphones so that they can maintain a safe environment.”
