8th Grade Student Kills Self in Bathroom
SOUTHGATE, Mich. – A 13-year-old boy shot and killed himself in the bathroom of Davidson Middle School on Thursday.
The boy, who was popular with classmates and didn’t appear to be suicidal, used his family-owned .40-caliber handgun, reports ClickOnDetroit. Just before the incident, he told his teacher he had to use the bathroom, where he then committed suicide. Another student found the eighth grader.
Immediately after the gun went off, the school was locked down. Students were eventually released to their parents and guardians. A vigil was held Thursday evening, and classes are cancelled today. Counselors are available.
