Hospital security officers have many of the same responsibilities as their colleagues at schools and universities.

The safety of everyone on their campus is priority number one, and doing things like preparing for emergencies and conducting threat assessments is a big part of the job.

But hospital security officers also have unique responsibilities that set them apart from their brethren in the educational community.

Campus Safety has reported on common and crazy crimes committed in hospitals, and even instances where officers assume the role of clinical staff in emergency situations.

But there are also important differences in the everyday work of security officers in hospitals and fundamental distinctions when it comes to things like equipment and training.
