MACON, Ga. — Seven Northeast High School students have been implicated in the Jan. 19 rape of a 16-year-old special-needs student on campus.
Four 17- or 18-year-old students were still in the Bibb County jail Jan. 28, Macon.com reports. Three other students were being held at the Macon Youth Development Campus, as they are juvenile offenders.
One of the students told the victim’s teacher that another school employee wanted to see her. The teacher allowed the girl to leave class. The student took her to the boy’s bathroom, where she was allegedly raped and sodomized for an hour by seven students.
The Bibb County School Superintendent Dr. Romain Dallemand announced at a news conference Jan. 31 that he was unaware that Bibb County Campus Police were in charge of the rape investigation, 41NBC News reports. He has since instructed campus police to turn over the investigation to Macon Police.
Parts of the alleged rape may have been caught on tape by school security cameras.
