According to an article on bullies from Education Week that I just came across, the following approaches will not help to change the behavior of a bully:
- Zero tolerance or “three strikes, you’re out”
- Punishment such as suspension or expulsion
- Conflict resolution and peer mediation: Bullying is not a conflict between people of equal power who share equal blame
- Group treatment for students who bully: Group members tend to reinforce bullying behavior in each other.
