NEW YORK — Three former Cornell University undergraduate students have been found not guilty of hazing a sophomore who died during a fraternity ritual last year.
Max Haskin, Ben Mann and Edward Williams were accused of forcing George Desdunes to drink excessive amounts of alcohol during an induction ritual for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the New York Times reports. The judge found that Desdunes had been drinking before encountering the defendants and they could not have known how much alcohol he had already consumed.
The fraternity was also charged. It was found guilty of hazing and will most likely be fined.
