2013 Conference on Crimes Against Women Starts April 8

The Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW) focuses on best practices for law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, advocates, medical personnel and others who work in the area of violence against women. Recognizing that these crimes are unique in nature and requires a collaborative approach, CCAW provides up-to-date, relevant and effective training and techniques that exist to battle this epidemic.

This year’s event will take place in Dallas and will cover the following topics:

Grantees from OVW’s Rural Grant Program and State Coalitions Program have been conditionally approved to attend this conference. Grantees are required to contact their OVW program specialist to get approval specific to their award and to ensure that a Grant Adjustment Notice (GAN) is issued. A GAN must be completed before grantees expend any funds related to attending this conference.

Grantees from the programs listed below are invited to attend this conference and do not have to contact their program manager for prior approval but must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders may send up to 5 participants
  • Court Training and Improvements Program may send up to 2 participants
  • Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program may send up to 2 participants

Grantees who are not required to get prior approval to attend this conference should be advised to place a “memo to the file” in their grant records indicating the conference approval code and their adherence to the criteria outlined above.

The conference code for this conference is OVW-2013-MU-002; this code must be used by grantees when requesting approval via a GAN or in their “memo to the file.”
