2 Toronto Teens Charged in School Murder

TORONTO – Police arrested two unidentified 17-year-olds May 27 for the shooting death of a boy at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute.

Both have been charged with first-degree murder for the May 23 shooting of Jordan Manners, 15, in the hallway of his school.

It was reported that the shooting occurred after an off-campus fight and that Manners was followed into the school. The two teens who were arrested for his murder knew the victim and had been his classmates.

The shooting prompted renewed calls for handgun control as well as improved school security. The campus is scheduled for the installation of security cameras, although there are no plans for the deployment of metal detectors.
