2 Injured in Philadelphia School Shooting

PHILADELPHIA — Police arrested a Delaware Valley Charter School student Friday after he allegedly shot two students in the school’s gymnasium.

A boy and a girl, both 15, were shot by the unidentified suspect shortly after 3 p.m., prompting school officials to immediately place the institution in lockdown. All students were searched and evacuated one-by-one, as authorities searched for the suspect, ABC News reports.

Authorities declined to release the names of the victims, but said the male victim was shot in the arm, while the female victim was grazed in the arm. Both are in stable condition and are expected to recover.

Police identified the shooter, a student at the school after reviewing video footage and later found him not too far from his home. Authorities are searching for at least one additional suspect in the incident.

It is unclear if the weapon, which authorities have not been able to locate, went off accidentally.
