PITTSBURGH — A shooting at a psychiatric clinic at the University of Pittsburgh on March 8 has left two people dead and seven injured. Police said that one of those killed was the gunman.
It is unclear at this time if the wounded people were patients, employees or visitors, the Associated Press reports. At least 200 police officers were on the scene performing a room-by-room search.
One of the shooting victims is reportedly a campus police officer from the University of Pittsburgh, The Star-Ledger reports. The officer was allegedly shot in the leg and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The gunman was not carrying identification, and his fingerprints, which were run through a national database, did not indicate his identity. Additionally, authorities do not know the motive for the shooting.
The university sent out E-mail and text alerts shortly after the shooting. Neighboring buildings were placed on lockdown.
