16 Students Hospitalized After Officer Uses Pepper Spray

BALTIMORE, Md. — Chesapeake High School was evacuated and 16 students were sent to the hospital Dec. 13 after a school security officer used pepper spray to break up a fight between two students.

The school security officer was unable to break up a struggle between two students in the front lobby of the school, and used pepper spray to break up the incident, The Baltimore Sun reports. Seven ambulances, an EMS lieutenant and a fire engine arrived on the scene after 16 students were exposed to the pepper spray.

The school was evacuated for approximately 45 minutes while fire crews ventilated the building.
