14 Arrested in High School Brawl

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.

Fourteen students at Ottawa Hills High School were arrested on Jan. 15 after a brawl broke out inside the school.

The brawl was sparked by two students fighting over a previous altercation, reports The Grand Rapids Press. No injuries were reported, and according to police, most of the fighting was limited to yelling and shoving.

Two adult students and 12 juveniles will be charged with trespassing, hindering police officers and creating a disturbance.

The school was placed on lockdown during the melee and police were called. Teachers were instructed to keep students inside classrooms. Once the brawl was stopped, students were released from classrooms in waves to minimize chaos. According to the news report, several other fights broke out after the lockdown was lifted, but no additional arrests were made.
