Congratulations to Linda Stump-Kurnick, Assistant Vice President and Chief of Police at the University of Florida, for being named one of this year’s higher education and healthcare Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.
Some of her notable achievements include:
- Launched a robust employee wellness program that addresses the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) eight dimensions of wellness.
- Department recognized by the Florida Crime Prevention Association as the 2023 Crime Prevention Unit of the Year (small agency).
- Hired two in-house mental health clinicians to ride with officers to respond to mental health calls, resulting in diverted hospitalizations for 48% of calls through establishing safety plans and securing alternative resources where involuntary hospitalization was considered.
