The Social Sentinel™ safety app serves as a destination where your campus community can connect directly with your public safety team to receive important information (e.g., maps, in case of emergency tips, etc.), request assistance, and share safety concerns and report crimes using text, pictures, and even video. Additionally, your public safety team can use the campus-branded app to build a relationship with faculty, staff, students, and visitors – sharing you expertise, guidance, specific federally mandated campus safety information and services (e.g., Title IX processes and procedures; Clery Act data and reports), while reinforcing that your team is composed of helpful and trustworthy members of the community.

Your campus safety app is more than an emergency services continuity tool. It’s your team’s ability to be there with your community – on devices that go everywhere with them. It even provides a “check-in” feature (new in 2014)allowing your community to know they aren’t alone. The app is easily updated and controlled by your staff and is available to your community and visitors for free.

Nationally renowned university and college safety experts built the Social Sentinel service to assist administrators to better protect and inform their students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

  • Accept tips about criminal and behavioral concerns from community members via video, pictures, and text – directly from their cell phone.
  • Provide community members and visitors with access to personal safety knowledge (available even when smartphones aren’t connected) including information otherwise difficult to find such as campus safety maps, crime and safety reports, lifesaving instructions and tips, travel safety guides, and important contact information.
  • Personalize and reinforce the relationship between your community and safety team by sharing insight into local events and issues (criminal or otherwise) directly from the chief public safety officer – including the ability to send push notifications.
