It can be a challenge to understand the effects of deferred maintenance on physical access control and video surveillance technologies, and campus security directors are beginning to discuss this prevalent trend.
Some may assume that by delaying the maintenance of a particular security technology, they will be saving their campus money. However, deferred maintenance of security technology can actually wind up costing an institution much more than if it addresses its maintenance issues up front.
At the Security100 Campus Summit that took place Feb. 16-18, campus technology professionals discussed these challenges and some possible solutions or managed services that security equipment manufacturers and integrators can provide.
