ROCKVILLE, Md. — Zyter, a technology provider, introduces ThermalAlert™, a dual spectrum thermal imaging solution that delivers real-time, no-contact temperature monitoring.

The technology is able to measure human body temperature (between 86°F and 113°F) of up to six people simultaneously within its temperature detection zone from a distance of up to 20 feet, surpassing other available solutions which typically can only detect human temperatures from a distance of 1-6 feet, says the company.

If a high temperature is detected, SMS, email, and/or single/multi-camera smart alerts are sent to individuals and care teams through monitors, mobile devices, or the Internet. Security is assured with device-to-device 256 bit AES encryption. An infection control module can also be applied to identified cases for additional analysis and reporting.

ThermalAlert has a detection time of less than one second and an accuracy of ≤ ± 0.5°F, according to the company. It also includes a high-resolution (1920 x 108o pixels) thermal camera and visual light. Cameras can be integrated with Zyter’s AI and automation-based platform.

ThermalAlert can also be deployed as a stand-alone system or upgraded for enterprise-wide or multi-site integration as an IoT platform. Common deployments include:

• Primary access monitoring to manage the flow of people at the primary entrance door of a facility (typical order is two units per main door)
• Secondary access monitoring to monitor the flow within a facility (4-8 units to monitor single, low-volume entryways or with a single control room monitoring all cameras)
• Drive-through clinics and tents using four cameras; images can be managed on a single iPad or tablet

ThermalAlert has been implemented at Galesburg Cottage Hospital (Ill.), as well as two clinics in Knoxville and Monmouth. Zyter has deployed five imaging cameras in a stand-alone configuration, divided among the three facilities.

With 133 licensed beds, 77 physicians and 400 employees, hundreds of people pass in front of the cameras each day. Prior to implementing the technology, manual temperature screening processes were in place at the facilities.
