Securitech’s SAFEBOLT Wins SIA’s 2019 Lock Systems Award

Thirty judges reviewed more than 95 product entries from over 80 companies and announced the winners at this year’s ISC West.

Securitech, a lock manufacturer, was selected as Security Industry Association’s (SIA) 2019 winner of the Lock Systems and Storage Containers category for its new product, SAFEBOLT™.

Code-compliant SAFEBOLT is designed for classrooms which are generally locked by key from the exterior and retrofits to existing cylindrical level locks, making it simple and affordable to install, according to the company. It meets the Department of Homeland Security’s #1 recommendation to quickly lockdown classroom doors from the inside without using a key.

A single press of the red button projects the locking bolt and instantly locks down the classroom. The classroom lock functions in its normal manner at all times, with exiting always possible, even when the SAFEBOLT lock is engaged.

The lock is shielded in a nylon polymer sheathing and a visual indicator notifies occupants that the door is bolted.

It provides free egress with a single motion that retracts the bolt and latch from the inside at all times. It also allows for keyed entry, so staff and first responders can always enter by key.

SIA’s New Product Showcase Awards is the flagship awards program at ISC West, recognizing innovative security products, services and solutions.

This year, 30 judges reviewed over 95 entries from more than 80 companies.
