LogMeIn Expands Emergency Kits for K-12 Schools With Free UCC Platform
LogMeIn’s Emergency Remote Work Kits are being expanded to include GoToConnect, the company’s cloud phone and UCC platform.
Enterprise tech and unified communication and collaboration (UCC) company LogMeIn is expanding its emergency remote work offerings to help K-12 schools shift to remote learning as schools are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In an announcement earlier this week, the company said its Emergency Remote Work Kits are being expanded to include GoToConnect, the firms’ cloud phone and UCC platform. LogMeIn launched its emergency remote work offerings earlier this month in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, which included solutions for videoconferencing, virtual events, remote access and remote IT support.
With the expanded emergency offering, schools will be eligible for free cloud phone and UCC services through the end of the school year via GoToConnect.
The company aims to help teachers, students, parents, administrators and staff stay connected as schools across the globe remain closed to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The free soft phones, voice and video calling and messaging from LogMeIn can be used on PCs, Macs, Chromebooks and mobile phones without hardware, networking or number porting.
The expanded offering comes as the company is experiencing a surge in remote solution usage. In a normal month, the company serves tens of millions of users, but that has exploded in March.
The company says its videoconferencing and meetings usage has spiked as high as 10 times over 2020 norms. Usage of remote access products like LogMeIn pro has jumped 300% in the past week alone, and GoToConnect has seen a 93% increase in voice calls and is up nearly 20% day-over-day.
The company earlier this month announced its initiative to help critical service providers battle the effects of COVID-19. The services include conferencing solutions, IT support and management, remote access and now a full UCC platform for K-12 schools. Kits are available at no cost for three months.
The emergency kits have served more than 800,000 single users around the world, the company says.
