AMAG Technology Javelin Series Card Readers

AMAG Technology of Torrance, Calif., has upgraded its Javelin Series card readers, which are available with and without keypads.

A multi-color LED light bar and multi-tone audio provide visual and audio feedback when a smart card is presented to the readers. The card reader keypads are backlit so office light levels can be kept to a minimum outside normal working hours.

The products support the company’s MCLP bidirectional supervised communications protocol, enabling the standard integrated tamper switch to send tamper alarms to AMAG’s Symmetry software without additional wiring, and providing continuous supervision and reporting of reader online status. A unique “sleep” mode reduces the LED and keypad backlight brightness after a period of inactivity, until a card is presented.

The S874 smartcard version supports high security contactless smart cards including DESFire EV1 and MIFARE Plus. They also work with the latest government PIV and TWIC cards. Simultaneously, the company has released the S870 125kHz proximity card variants are compatible with all HID and AMAG 125KHz proximity cards.
