The school liaison officers would be available for emergency and non-emergency calls but would not be inside schools during the day.

After weighing the pros and cons, Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees is pressing forward with the establishment of its own law enforcement agency.

The proposal comes after de Blasio said school safety agents would be moved from under the NYPD and amid a hiring freeze of social workers and guidance counselors.
