13 Times K-12 Schools Got Security Very, Very Wrong (And 6 Times They Got It Right)

What’s WRONG with this picture? Scroll down to see the answer.

Answer: Posting names or photos of students near their classrooms could help an intruder or non-custodial parent find a specific student or staff member.

Posting these types of signage and artwork is less of a risk if it is done in common areas such as the lunchroom or media center. Teachers could also post this information on the inside of their door so that information is visible when the door is open (for example during class changes or during parent-teacher conferences) but not at other times.

These types of postings also raise concerns about FERPA and privacy of students.
