Safety Technology International (STI), a manufacturer of protective enclosures and push buttons, announces the release of its fire extinguisher theft stopper (STI-6200) alarm to help stop extinguishers from being stolen. The battery operated alarm offers a unique steel cable operated switch mechanism to help stop theft and vandalism of fire extinguishers.

If the protected fire extinguisher is moved from its normal position, the device emits a piercing alarm (95 or 105 dB). This alarm helps draw attention to a fire extinguisher and the vandal will either run or be caught.

Its highly visible stop sign design and the words “STOP, ALARM WILL SOUND” discourages wrongful use, according to the company.

Completely self-contained, the device does not interfere with firefighting in any way. In case of a real fire, the alarm helps draw attention to the area.

The newly redesigned unit is easy to install and now includes symbols and 20 labels to warn in two languages. It also comes complete with a 9-volt alkaline battery, mounting hardware and a short cable to deactivate the alarm for service of the fire extinguisher.

It is available in seven different models and has a three-year guarantee against breakage of polycarbonate in normal use (one year on electro mechanical and electronic components).
