Metrasens Ultra™ Detection System Now Offered to Healthcare Facilities

Xact ID™ detection technology is said to boost detection capabilities as an enabler for safer healthcare environments.

Metrasens, a provider of magnetic detection technologies, announces the launch of its next-generation detection system Metrasens Ultra™ with Xact ID™ intelligent detection technology for availability to the healthcare security market.

Metrasens Ultra is said to combine Metrasens’ advanced proprietary algorithms and enhanced sensor design that result in high detection levels with low extraneous alarms. With limited release beginning in 2021, Metrasens Ultra has reached nearly 1,000 deployed systems and has proven efficacy in both detection performance and design aesthetics, according to the company.

“Metrasens believes a comprehensive screening operation including people, process and technology must be taken into consideration to combat all threats in a safety-first culture such as a hospital or behavioral health hospital,” said Dr. Simon Goodyear, CEO of Metrasens. “We know that the solutions to these problems are not one-dimensional. They take orchestration which includes smart technology like Metrasens Ultra, but  also the properly applied and trained use.”

Xact ID, Ultra’s technology component, was developed with system intelligence that drives performance through advanced software algorithms, machine learning, and sensor design, resulting in detection capability for a full range of threat items, including guns, knives, razor blades and other concealable threat objects, says the company.

The technology is supported by defined screening processes created between Metrasens and customers. These processes are said to take into consideration the targeted threat profiles, space/environment considerations, and the flow of foot traffic.

Metrasens Ultra is simple to use for in-house or third-party security staff due to its intuitive user interface and easy to interpret zone indication LEDs that provide location on the body where a threat object is detected, the company says. Alert and operational activity data are captured automatically and stored for viewing on the user interface or downloaded into a report for management.

“In Metrasens Ultra, we have concentrated on bringing to market a solution rather than just a product,” Goodyear continued. “The difference is that a solution represents a more complete response to the hospital’s needs holistically and serves the needs of all stakeholders. That is what we have done with Metrasens Ultra.”
