The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety recently launched two new certification exams and a new edition to its training manual for healthcare security officers.
The announcement was made at the association’s annual conference and exhibition in May, although the manual and exams were not available for purchase until June.
The 2016 Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) Certification Examination, which is made for management-level healthcare security professionals, will now incorporate the Healthcare and Hospital Security 6th Edition, the 2015 IAHSS Healthcare Security Industry Guidelines and additional study materials relating to emergency management and safety. Only applicants with appropriate qualifications are approved to take the exam.

The new Basic Certification Examination includes many new items that ensure “all questions were reflective of the basic knowledge and skills required for a healthcare security officer”, according to an association press release.
The 6th Edition of the Basic Training Manual for Healthcare Security Officers was completed after new and previous authors incorporated the latest research and trends in the field of healthcare security.
The IAHSS is a professional association dedicated to professionals involved in managing and directing security and safety programs in healthcare facilities.
