Campus Safety is pleased to announce that Director Mark Ghilarducci from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services will be delivering the keynote address at the Campus Safety Conference (CSC) at the Hilton in Pasadena, California July 30 – August 1.

The Campus Safety Conference is the premier event for K-12 schools, university police agencies, administrators, campus stakeholders and anyone who is actively engaged in the development and implementation of safety procedures and strategies. The mission for this year’s conference is to bring together campus safety professionals that can offer best practices that are focused on strategies and tactics to reduce risk and improve response.

Highlights of the keynote presentation, Keeping our K-12 and Higher Education Campuses Safe, include:

  • Emergency planning, preparedness and response, an all hazards approach.
  • The importance of interagency communication and planning prior to and leading up to an event.
  • How to effectively work with other campus law enforcement agencies to improve campus safety and security.
  • Examples of incidents that were prevented or mitigated as a result of schools and/or universities working together.

“Campus safety has become one of the top concerns amongst law enforcement and emergency managers across the state,” said Director Ghilarducci. “It’s critical that we are taking a whole community approach to our emergency planning efforts. Whether it’s a review of security procedures or outreach to teachers, faculty, parents and staff, further steps can be taken now to be more prepared for any emergency.”
