The Continental Access division of Napco, a manufacturer of security products, announces its new CardAccess 4000 (CA4K) Access Manager App, now available through iTunes and Google Play on any smart device.

The CA4K Access Manager App adds another layer of mobile control to Continental Access’ flagship CA4k Enterprise Integrated Access Control Software (v.1.1 or higher), which supports push notifications or emails in the event of an emergency, threat level escalation or lockdown event, according to the company.

The app acts as a Virtual Enterprise Workstation and provides effective management of threat levels, lockdowns, status and personnel. It can also control doors (up to 35,000), wireless PIN/Prox locks, elevators and entryways.

“Instead of having to run back to your office to log onto your work computer or having to log on from your laptop, you can use your cell phone or tablet to remotely take a person out of the system, lock or unlock a door, do a lockdown and even pull up a muster list to find out who’s in the building or who hasn’t come in yet,” said Scott Schramme, VP of Sales for Continental Access.

The app allows logged access through a customizable list of approved entry points without a physical credential, making it ideal for schools, universities and hospitals. It also has universal access functionality and can be used to access any lock or reader on the CA4K Enterprise Access Control System.

Users can also shake their smartphones to swap between multiple clients’ hosted or remotely-managed systems, introduced to help generate RMR-producing cloud-based access and managed services.
