Alcatraz AI’s Information SMS Achieves ISO 27001 Certification

The Rock, Alcatraz’s Information Security Management System, replaces or supplements badging credentials with facial recognition, 3D sensing and AI.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Alcatraz AI, a developer of secure frictionless access control products, announces it has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS), The Rock.

The ISO 27001:2013 certification is an international standard that helps ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive company and customer information.

“The Alcatraz team is proud to have achieved ISO 27001 certification as it validates our commitment to safeguarding the sensitive information involved in developing and delivering autonomous access control,” said Alcatraz Founder and CEO Vince Gaydarzhiev. “Our customers and partners can rest assured that our processes not only meet the highest international standards for information security, but it’s our mission to exceed them.”

A-lign, an independent, third-party auditor accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to perform ISMS 27001 certifications, certified that Alcatraz has the proper technical controls and formalized IT security policies and procedures in place to protect it from unauthorized access. Certification also means the Alcatraz IT team is knowledgeable in the best practices necessary to maintain compliance with the ISO 27001 standards.

The Rock, a secure physical access control solution, replaces or supplements badging as a credential with facial recognition, 3D sensing, and artificial intelligence for secure and frictionless entry, says the company. It is powered over the network cable connected to any PoE+ network switch or injector and separate connections enable independent communication with access control systems and third-party badge readers.

The Rock also uses machine learning for increased security and tailgating detection while enrolling employees as they are badging in. A new feature, the Mask Enforcer, provides a mask detection mode to help businesses and campuses comply with government-mandated facemasks.

Several system integrators and security organizations have incorporated the Alcatraz Rock into their solutions portfolio, including Johnson Controls, PSA Security Network, SAGE Integration, and TRL Systems, according to the company.
