Wyoming Teachers Could be Monitored on Classroom Cameras

WYOMING — Lawmakers have proposed a bill that would require cameras to be installed in classrooms to monitor teachers. The recordings would be used to evaluate teachers’ performances.

The bill would also require monthly written reviews of teachers, The Christian Science Monitor reports. Currently, the state only requires annual teacher evaluations. Lawmakers are also considering merit pay and at-will employment for teachers.

Critics say that classroom monitoring could be intimidating and stressful for school employees.
