Woman Tries to Kidnap Elderly, Unconscious Mother From Hospital

MEMPHIS — Police arrested a woman Wednesday who attempted to kidnap her elderly mother from Methodist South Hospital.

Authorities say that on July 17 Tina Vaughn planned to take her unconscious mother home on a public bus — including the patient’s hospital bed. When hospital security tried to stop Vaughn, she allegedly became very aggressive and swung at them with a crutch and charged at them with a pocketknife, WREG.com reports.

Vaughn has successfully taken her mother away from the hospital in the past, according to neighbors, who said Vaughn had been bringing her mother home once or twice a week for the past two months.
