JACKSON, N.J. — The Board of Education here has passed a referendum question Thursday that, if approved, will raise $1.5 million for school security upgrades.
The seven-member board debated whether voters would support the referendum for security initiatives, which would include installing new swipe-key access on doors, more cameras and monitoring systems and more. In 2010, voters rejected a similar referendum, the Asbury Park Press reports.
If voters approve the measure in November, implementation will begin in 2014.
