Wichita SROs To Carry Stun Guns

WICHITA, Kan. – By the end of February, Wichita’s 22 school resource officers (SROs) will carry TASER stun guns.

Seven SROs in the city’s high schools and 15 in its middle schools will be issued the device.

The officers have been instructed to not use TASERs on people who are very old or very young. Stun guns should also not be used on women who are pregnant, people who have heart problems or debilitating illnesses, or people who are handcuffed. Additionally, TASERs shouldn’t be used near flammable materials or on people in positions where they could fall or be substantially injured.
