Wash. VA Hospital Shooter Allegedly Stalked Victim for Years

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police have arrested a woman who shot her former supervisor twice in the chest at the Center for Community Health at VA Northwest Health Network campus on Feb. 4.

Deborah Lennon, 46, allegedly shot 45-year-old Allen Bricker, a chief financial officer for VA Northwest Health Network. Bricker sustained serious injuries from the shooting, The Columbian reports.

Lennon formerly worked as a financial auditor at the hospital until she resigned two years ago to relocate out of the state. In an E-mail written to Bricker, Lennon admitted that she left because the victim was married.

According to court documents, Lennon wrote Bricker several times a day following her resignation, declaring her love for the victim. Her messages also urged Bricker to leave his wife and included threats to kill him.

In January 2013, Bricker was issued two temporary protection orders against Lennon; however he was denied a request for a permanent protection order in March 2013 because neither Bricker nor Lennon arrived at the hearing.

Lennon faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, stalking, cyberstalking and first-degree assault.
